Biography

In the early summer of 1992 I learned windsurfing in a surfing school on a lake called "Grosses Meer" in Ostfriesland/Germany. Soon I became known as the 'little surfmonster' since I went out whatever the conditions where like.

Just for fun I applied to the Surf-Academy in St.Peter-Ording, Germany and quickly became a member of the so-called "Old-Spice-Team" whose team leader was Josh Angulo. I was chosen from 240 applicants. That got me involved in professional windsurfing. I won the German F-25 Tour at the age of fourteen and in 1997 won the German Youth Championship three times and competed in several european and world championships.

I trained a lot at the "Roo Paal" opposite to Norderney and on the island as well. Still a student, I had no chance to practise at the world´s best places for windsurfing and so had little chance to advance in wavesailing. Competing in so many events over the years wasn´t what my teachers wanted. With my friends support, I managed to maintain a good rank and keep my teachers satisfied.

In 1997 I took part in the PWA World Tour for the first time, and continued competing in several tour events from then on. In 1998 my high school did not permit me to compete in the Worldcup in Sylt, although I did still compete, which nearly forced me to drop out of school. That was a difficult time juggling surfing and school, so I finally changed my mind and I quit surfing for the following two years leading many people to wonder about my surfing future.

I graduated in 2000 and now I´m studying Intercultural Communication and Media Science. Now it’s easier to combine education and sports. Since 2002 I have been competing in the whole PWA Wave World Tour and I managed to become 9th in the women’s world ranking in 2002.

In 2004 I received a scholarship for the university of Las Palmas Gran Canaria which gave me the chance to live and surf in Pozo Izquierdo to practice with other PWA competitors like the Moreno Twins or Björn Dunkerbeck. I managed to keep a 7th place in the freestyle worldranking until the Canada Event, in which i couln´t take part for financial reasons.

In 2005 I had to cancel my training camp in spring, because I was forced  to work for new sails, which in consequence had a bad impact on my 2005 results. Under the given circumstances I managed to become 12th in the Freestyle overall ranking 2005.
